Overview
The organization of extracting and updating local models, including the necessary
backups of the group models and local models can be time consuming and error
prone. The CA Plex Model Manager will support and improve the handling of CA Plex
local models and group models by guiding the administrator/developer through the
process and automatically handle the model files, including creating necessary
backups of local models and group models.
Prerequisites
To install and run the Plex Model Manager you need:
Workstation
Windows XP
IBM System i Server
OS/400 V5R1 or higher
Communication
TCP/IP connection between workstation and IBM System i Server
User Rights
-
Read/Write access to Model Manager application directory (default = C:\programfiles\MatchPoint)
-
Read/Write access to Model Manager library on System i Server (MPPGM)
Communication
Start the dispatcher
For the communication between the server and the workstation, the Plex Model
Manager uses a dispatcher job on the System i Server. During the installation of the
Plex Model Manager, the dispatcher job is started automatically.
To manually start the dispatcher: call MPCOM/STRTCP610
It is recommended that you automatically start this job during system start up.
Change Communication Settings
Server: In MPCOM/QCLSRC is the source of the CL STRTCP610, which starts the
dispatcher job. You can change the settings of the communication in the CL-Source
and compile the program into MPCOM.
Port number: the default is set to 50000. This port can be set to any available port
number. When changing the port number of the dispatcher, the ModMan.INI-File on
all workstations must be changed as well. (See below)
Subsystem: the default is set to QINTER. It can be set to any other subsystem.
Job Name: the default is set to MPCOM. It can be changed to any other name.
Client:
The ModMan.ini contains the communication settings for the Plex Model Manager:
[Remote]
System=
Protocol=TCPIP
OpSys=AS400
Job Description=MPCOM/YMPPROD
Buffer Size=4
Port=50000
UserId=
Password=
Code Page=101
Path=
TCPIP Dialog=0
Program=YOBSYRPC
Library=PLEX
If the port number of the dispatcher job on the IBM System i Server is changed, it
must be changed in the ModMan.ini file.
